Adding Stock location to existing product 1.8.1

Hi,

Has anyone had issues adding a stock location to an existing product.  This has only become an issue with the last upgrade as we have products which don't have a location and they now can't be charged out (it didn't matter with the 1.7).  When I go to add a location as admin, the system doesn't allow it.

Thanks,

Mwhite

Re: Adding Stock location to existing product 1.8.1

Mureen:

Q1. what type of products are affected - are they Merchandise, Medication or Services?

Q2. when you say "when I go to add a location" what do you mean? Do you mean that you edit the product, then click on the Stock Location tab, then try to set the stock quantity?

Q3. when you say "the system doesn't allow it" - what error message are you getting?

Q4. do you use any modified archetypes?  If so, when the upgrade to 1.8.1 was done did the person who did the upgrade check for updates in the corresponding archetypes before loading your modified archetypes?

Re: Adding Stock location to existing product 1.8.1

Hi Tim,

Sorry for delay:

1. Initially I thought it was just medications, but it is also happening with services.

2. I am trying to add a stock location (we only have one - Main stock).  I had previously removed the stock location from these to solve another issue. Yes, I am doing via the Stock Location tab

3. The system allows me to add the stock location, but when I go to apply or OK the change it brings up "Failed to validate Product of Product Stock Location: errorMessage". I also had a problem trying to de-active a service today. I went in to edit it, unticked the active box and then when I tried to save it I got Error message "Failed to validate Product of Product Stock Location: errorMessage' which is even more bizarre, given the service doesn't have a stock location.

4. Modified archetypes - not sure if we do use them.  Suspect if we do, then they weren't checked. I will have to find out that one.

Thanks for your help,

Maureen

Re: Adding Stock location to existing product 1.8.1

Edit the product that is causing problems, and:

1. go to the Stock Locations tab

2. untick Hide Inactive Stock Locations

3. Delete any duplicates

You shouldn't see any, unless:

  • the records were migrated from another system
  • your system time has drifted backwards. I've heard of a recent case where the system time had drifted backwards by 5 hours, resulting in future dated records in the database.
