Printing Issues

Hi everyone,

I have a printing issue when printing from within OpenVpms: invoices, reminders is the problem but not labels.

Running Openvpms 1.8 on Windows 7 with Tomcat 9.

I can see the print job loading in the queue, spooling and then the status changes to 'Printing' but nothing happens after that; just stays in the queue.  If I restart the pc the jobs in the queue prints on startup.

Printing from any other program works fine.  Currently we preview the file then print from the resulting PDF.

Any help, guidance will be appreciated!

Regards

Re: Printing Issues

It could be a driver issue. Make sure you have an up-to-date driver for your printer.

Another thing to try is to restart the print spooler next time it occurs. There's various ways of doing this, documented here: http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN287157/en#Two

If your documents have large images in them, and you are running low on memory, I have seen reports that this can prevent spooled jobs from printing as well. It works on startup as there is memory available.

Re: Printing Issues

Thank you for the quick response.

I was able to restart the Print Spooler and the documents printed without a problem without me having to restart the machine.

This is what it looks like before restarting the Spooler.   The only image on the invoice is 82kb in size.

Long long shot but I'm wondering if the low ink warning could have something to do with it?

Re: Printing Issues

Not sure that the low ink warning would cause the problem you are seeing.

See if you have the latest version of the driver. The most recent version for your printer, 2.45(12-2015), can be found here: http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/du/02/DriverDownloadInfo.do?LG2=EN&CN2...

Re: Printing Issues

Update: success!

Spend hours an hours on it and eventually decided to disable the 'Low ink warning - use colors to print black' service on my Epson WF-5190.

Could've just replaced the cartridge but it will print for about a month after the first warning so I don't want to.

Some of the unsuccessful steps included disabling 'interact with desktop' in the printer spool service, uninstalling print drives in all detail possible etc etc.

Just glad it is going.
