External Prescriptions

Dear Forum Members,

I'm having a bit of trouble sorting out external prescriptions in openvpms. Online pharmacies are a massive thing in the UK and I have many owners who wish to have a either an original ink prescription or an emailed copy sent to them.

The current 'prescription external.jrxml' doesn't help my cause much. The 'prescription.jrxml' file is actually far closer to what is required in the UK with just a bit of altering of the static text fields. When I try uploading the 'prescription.jrxml' file in place of 'prescription external.jrxml' in Administration|Templates|Prescription External of course I don't have the required parameters pulled in so I end up with a lot of nulls.

Could someone please point me in the correct direction of how I should alter this properly so the fields I need are pulled in?

Also, and perhaps for another post if too hard, I ideally need an image of my signature and practice stamp inserted in to the template if it is for email. I have found how to enter an image in japer studio but would need openvpms to send the template the links to the files and probably a boolean isEmail.

Any pointers much appreciated.

Chris

Re: External Prescriptions

The Prescription.jrxml template uses the fields provided by a Prescription.

The Prescription External.jrxml template uses the fields provided by a Patient Letter, and those parameters input manually by the user.

It sounds as though you need to modify Prescription External.jrxml so that it looks more like Prescription.jrxml, but you will need to prompt for the data that is missing.

You can include your signature as an Image element in JasperReports, with the Expression attribute set to the path to the image file stored on the webserver. This image will be embedded in the resulting PDF.

Note that Patient Letters don't support the IsEmail parameter as the document is not generated on the fly like Patient Forms, Invoices etc, so you can't use it to conditionally include your signature.

Re: External Prescriptions

Hello .... not really External prescriptions but really about including our signature in vacc certificates, as we have request to email them....

But the vaccination certificate is a form so I am not sure that this is possible?

Thanks Anna

Re: External Prescriptions

Its possible in the current releases, but not straight forward. You need to store images of your signatures on a drive for each clinician, and modify the certificates to select the appropriate image based on the responsible clinician.

It will be supported in the upcoming 2.4 release.

Re: External Prescriptions

Its possible to store a signature but its also illegal to use a digital signature like that on a script.  Not having that check opens the system to massive abuse.  You should be printing these out and having clinicians sign them - yes its more work - yes you should charge for it - but as a clinician - no body is storing my signature on file...period.  You would have to be nuts
