Templates

Hello - just need some advice to the easiest way to do this.

We use templates for some procedures ie Cat Castration, dentals grade 1 and grade 2, ex lap....

We include the premed in the cost of the anaesthesia, write up the s8s in our book but do not charge out to client, same for sedation.

We do not stock control s8 via open but I would like to do so and have been thinking about the easiest way to do this.

So I have adjusted a template - dog castration, to have the acp and methadone volume used added to the invoice, but is a 0 price  and does not show on invoice.

Is this the right way of going about it that do this to all the templates we have and then need to have a General anaesthesia template for times that we make up an estimate from scratch - and given that our s8 are different for cats and dogs and rabbits - need to have one for each species?? and then make the Ga charge only use in templates?

Just want to think it through a bit as there is some work that needs to be done and dont want it to be a waste of time....

Thanks Anna

Re: Templates

Hi Anna,

Do you use the dose rates in the products (the methadone and ACP)?

We do that in our products per species and it calculates through every template.

Re: Templates

Thanks Greta, we dont - we use a separate document that calculates all our drugs for each patient having a procedure - premeds, induction and emergency doses and print that out to go with their chart.

How do you use this feature with drugs like amoxyclav tablets for dogs with different strength of tablets?

Thanks Anna

Re: Templates

We used to have a separate document that printed out when we admitted a patient, but we don't need it anymore with the doses calculating in the products in openvpms.

We only use the drug doses for injectables, we don't use it for amoxyclav tablets, but we do use it with Fentanyl patches, which might be a similar way to do it??

Re: Templates

Hi Greta,

I would like to use the dose rate ie 0.5mg / kg and then have it that open knows that it is 10mg /ml so it calculates the amount of mls to charge....is this the way you do it?

or it is like 250mg amoxyclav

0-10kg 0.5 tablets

10-20 1 tablet

I prefer the former.....Thanks Anna

Re: Templates

Hi Anna,

It's the former unless you have an item that can't be split (fentanyl patch, capsules etc).

For injectables that are per ml (example clav rtu)
