I would like to translate the screens contents and datas into french. Can you tell me if somebody is already working on that (I've seen an message_fr.xml).

I can help you if somebody is interrest into a french version of OPENVPMS.

Regards.

Daniel

RE: [OpenVPMS Developers] French translation

Hi Daniel,

We have had some discussions in this thread

http://www.openvpms.org/general-discussion-internationalisation

and I believe a partial translation was done by Parker and posted in the repository.

I think some more work needs to be done on the messages_fr.properties file and also on the archetype translations.

Cheers Tony

Hello,

I 'm working on the messages_fr.properties file. I have nearly finished to review and complete it.

I want to test it a bit and I think I can send it to you next week if you are interressed.

Re: [OpenVPMS Developers] working on messages_fr.properties

Hi Daniel, that would be great. When you're ready, send it through and I'll commit it.

Regards,

Tim

Translate in french all the archetype_descriptors.display_name

Hello,

I' like to translate in french all the archetype_descriptors.display_name.

What is the best solution to do this ? I can make a SQL with update statements like :

update table archetype_descriptors set display_name to 'Tatouage' where name='entityIdentity.petTag';

But perhaps, there is a clever way to do this ?

Cheers.

Re: [OpenVPMS Developers] Translate in french all the archetype_

There's currently no clean way of supporting different languages in archetype descriptors. Post processing them with SQL is probably your best bet a present.

We have discussed separating the locale specific details of the archetypes in the past. There is several different approaches we could take: 1. assigning localised names when archetypes are loaded These would use resource bundles to replace tags in the .adl files prior to loading them into the database

2. assigning localised names at runtime These would use resource bundles to replace tags in the archetype descriptors at runtime

The first approach is the easiest, but only supports a single locale. The advantage of the second approach is that multiple locales can be supported.

French translation

Hello,

Here is the messages_fr.properties. I'm not sure all 100% of the translation but I think it is a pretty good quality.

I've applied your changes. The file was a little out of date with respect to the message.properties file in svn

so I've merged the two. Please check it out to make sure I haven't lost anything.

Tim

French translation - OK

I've checked the file from the svn trunk. It seems to be OK. Thanks Tim

I will send you back this file with the new properties translation in  1 or 2 weeks.

Daniel

Re: [OpenVPMS Developers] French translation - OK

Great. Next time, please create a new issue in JIRA for the VPMS Web Application project at https://openvpms.atlassian.net/secure/CreateIssue!default.jspa and add your changes as an attachment. That way they won't get lost in the mailing list.

Thanks,

Tim
