New type of Document selector

This was raised at the recent Users meeting (Point 3 from minutes)

www.openvpms.org/forum/victorian-users-meeting-monday-19th-july

What about this;

A new type of document selector at checkin. This document selector would;

1) Show more then just forms. In fact it would show any template that has a Classification "Check In Document" (See Below)

2) The templates so listed have a Print button. Multiple copies can be printed by pressing the button multiple times. Normal Interactive/Non interactive behaviour applies.

We would need to add the ability to have Classifications for Templates so they can be grouped into lists.

I like this type document selector for most use cases. Furthermore by having templates able to be grouped into user defined lists, creates the possibility of filtering documents in most use cases. eg. Check In Documents, Check Out Documents, New Client Documents etc etc. We have hundreds of templates and effective filtering the template list requires a good knowledge of what they are called.

New type of Document selector (Bump)

Hi guys,

In the recent flurry of activity this feature discussed at the recent users meeting has been overshadowed. Just thought I would bump it to see if there was any interest for it out there.

In summary it looks to improve the document selection at check in and other times when you have to go hunting for a document to add/use.

The idea was that documents could be assigned classifications (groupings) and that these groupings were used to find documents in certain situations. Furthermore all templates could be shown, not just forms/letters etc.

Example groups:

- Check in documents

- Post surgery documents

- General information documents

etc etc

Quote from main post:

Re: New type of Document selector (Bump)

Hi Matt,We would very much appreciate such a feature. Seems silly that it wasn't there in the first place, but I am sure there was some tech reason for its absence. Like many others I'm sure, we have all of our document templates catagorised into headings & it would be great to have access to all of these at check-in especially. Is it possible to have access to these templates when consulting and at other times without having to add the document to the documents page of the patient's Medical Records? Could there be a separate quick print button giving access to these templates that could be accessed from anywhere at any time? Glen On 2 September 2010 23:33, <mpcosta@boroniavet.com.au> wrote:

Re: New type of Document selector (Bump)

Hey Glen,

Question.

With respect to your suggestion of having a print document button from anywhere in the application, say you chose a Customer or Patient form,

would it refer to the currently selected Customer/Patient (the one in the top title bar of your browser)?

Good suggestion by the way. I can think of many times you want to quickly bring up a document and print off.

The existing template system is great cos we can configure our docuemtns to be non interactive and automatically go to the right printer with correct settings, making printing a one click process.

I have created an active project here

Cheers,

Hi Matt,The Customer referred to would be in the top title bar of the browser or just the one on the summary window on the left. This is a function in another well known program and I have found it very useful, & quick. Glen On 7 September 2010 22:43, mpcosta <mpcosta@boroniavet.com.au> wrote:

Re: New type of Document selector (Bump)

Hey Glen,

Just a point of clarification,

1. Customer selection in title bar

This is the customer selection for the Customer/Patient areas and the application in general.

2. The one in the summary on the left just refers to either the Customer in 1. or the current selection in a worklist or schedule if you are in the Workflow area.

Which one would the "Print Document" button refer to? Or would you have it just for the one currently displayed in the Summary view (I like this option myself).

Matt C

So Customer would be the one in the title bar

New type of Document selector (Discussion Over)

Hi everyone,

This project has finished user Discussion and is currently being review by the developers for feasibility and costing.

Cheers,

Matt C

Re: New type of Document selector

Comments from recenting meeting

o       This feature was revised after discussion.

It was suggested that the project just achieve one simplified aim which would be to allow documents to be linked to one or more worklists/schedules. This would allow users to customise the documents they selected from during Check-In and other workflows.

Point 2 (the print button) was removed from the specification as the recent changes to printing options in Templates made it redundant.

By using links and not classifications/groups, the same list will show for Check-In and Check Out actions. Is this a problem for anyone?

A JIRA has been created here and the project (http://www.openvpms.org/project/new-style-document-selector) has been updated.

Re: New type of Document selector

Hi everyone,

Just a quick query.

It relates to the proposed change to the way documents are selected during Ceck-In and other workflows.

Namely;

"...allow documents to be linked to one or more worklists/schedules. This would allow users to customise the documents they selected from during Check-In and other workflows..."

The project (http://www.openvpms.org/project/new-style-document-selector) is here.

The query is, are there users who make use of the Check-Out document selection where having the same list as Check-In would be a disadvantage/problem?

Please read the project specification (above link) as it stands and then we can get it out of Developer Review.

Cheers,

Matt C

Re: New type of Document selector

Hey everyone,

This project (to customise the list of deocument templates at processes like Check-In, Check Out etc)(http://www.openvpms.org/project/new-style-document-selector) is at risk of getting stalled unless we get some feedback regarding the query

"...are there users who make use of the Check-Out document selection where having the same list as Check-In would be a disadvantage/problem?"

Please read the project specification (above link) as it stands and then we can get it out of Developer Review or get it off the list if not desired.

Cheers,

Matt C
