Product document printing

I want to set up things so that if as part of a consult, a product (eg a lab test) is invoiced, then a document is printed (eg a test request to the lab).

I can set up a product with an associated investigation, and with a document attached to the investigation, this prints as expected. (But this does not solve my problem because the investigation does not 'know' what product is involved so the product name cannot appear on the investigation document.)

When I set up the product with an associated document, I cannot get this to print. Setting the printMode to either Checkout or Immediate has no effect. No print dialog appears and nothing appears on the document list at checkout.

Is there some reportType or something else that I have to set?

Version is 1.6b3

Re: Product document printing

For the document associated with the product, try using a template that is a Patient Document Form.

Re: Product document printing

Tim A - I finally got around to playing with this again.  I changed the Type to "Patient Form".  This immediately lead to this form being added to the standard Vaccination Certificate and Health Certificate forms that are offered during check-in.

Is there a Type setting that allows me to set the template as a document for a product that does NOT result in it being offered at check-in time?

[It seems to me that if one has things set up correctly - with the appropriate certificates attached to the appropriate products, then there is no need to offer any forms at check-in time - because the required forms will be offered when the product is used.]

Note that what I am trying to do is ensure that my very picky son has as little reason to bitch about OPV as possible - and I see the need to skip the certificates offered at check-in time in 99% of consults as being a problem.  Hence I want to cut the forms offered at check-in time to zero, but I do need the appropriate form attached to the appropriate product.

Any suggestions?

Regards, Tim

Re: Product document printing

There isn't any facility to do that although a project was set up some time ago that could do what you want.

Re: Product document printing

I am revisiting this topic after almost 6 months as a result of a learning more about the system as part of the CSH project.

Currently we have a template type 'Patient Form', ie the archetype act.patientDocumentForm

At checkin time, the system looks for any templates of this type and presents them for possible printing at checkin time.

If you want to add documents to products so that the document is offered when you use the product, then these have to have type Patient Form - and hence get added to those offered at checkin time.

Suggestion: clone the act.patientDocumentForm to create say act.patientDocumentForm.checkIn, and change the checkin logic to scan for this type at checkin time and 'auto skip' the document selection screen if there are no checkin documents.

This might be a simpler way to resolve https://openvpms.atlassian.net/browse/OVPMS-1085

Re: Product document printing

Hi Tim,

I would prefer not to add an extra archetype for this but just implement a better strategy for how you assign templates to the check-in forms screen via either worklist assignment or a flag on the template.

Cheers Tony

Re: Product document printing

No problem Tony - cost me a solution and I will see what is in the piggy bank.

I think that worklist assignment makes the most sense [ie if you are going into the boarding kennel list you get offered the kennel form; going in to hospital you get the ??? form; etc]

The standard system comes with only two patient forms, the desex and the vaccination certificates.  I can see the Hong Kong system have a whole lot more - specifically to support investigations/lab tests - and with the way things currently work, you are going to get presented with a large number of forms at checkin. [And the fewer things I give my son to bitch about, the better.]

I must admit that with the ability to attach forms to a product, I do not fully understand why the system was designed the way it is. That is, one could simply attach the desex form to the appropriate service products.  Unless of course it is to do with the fact that entering the data may need to be delayed until well after the procedure is finished, but you want to give the customer the vaccination certificate immediately.
