Installation questions:

Posted on behalf of Geoff from questions:

Hi,

I have managed to install Openvpms on Windows 2000 workstation without problem and it appears to be functioning correctly. It is a new install with no data transfered as looking at using it in a practice currently on a card system. Several queries:
1. When I enter prices under products they have dollar symbols in front of them. But when entered into suppliers they have pound symbols and appear on invoices as pounds rather than dollars.
2. How do I get the GST to appear on invoices, etc
3.Is there a specific order to enter the various data into the program as get location errors when try to complete various entries yet all the fields seem to be complete.
4. Im in NZ it would be useful if I could replace 'state' with 'suburb' and also have a box to enter 'town' how do I tinker with the frontend to achieve this.

Thanks Geoff

RE: Installation questions:

Hi Geoff,

Firstly a question. When you installed OpenVPMS and did the initial dataload did you do a dataload base or dataload setup ?

The reason is the later adds a basic organisational structure (Practice, Practice location, Till etc) which is required for normal operation. One way to check is go to Administration -> Organisation and list the organisational entities and make sure some structure is in place. If not this will account for the GST and location issues you are getting ...

The supplier pound sign issue is a bit strange given the customer charges are displaying as expected. I will investigate what may cause this. Are you running version 1.1 or the new 1.2-Beta-1 version ?

You can definitely edit the contact archetypes to change the names of fields or remove specific fields that are not applicable to your area (Postcode). As it is currently with state do you want to have the suburbs selectable from a dropdown list ? Often town and suburb use the same field .. is there some reason for having two fields ? Do you also want postcode removed ?

Sorry more questions than answers at this point :-)

Cheers Tony

Installation questions

Thanks Tony,

Managed to suss out the location problems.

Still have a problem with pound symbols replacing $ for no apparent reason.

I have the GST working in that its adding 12.5% to the final price but no monetary value appears in the taxation boxes anywhere.

??

Thanks Geoff

RE: Installation questions

Hi Geoff,

Think we have the Pound issue pegged.

OpenVPMS is using the default language setting in your browser to format currencies. This is actually not correct as it should use the system currency setting for currency display but the browser setting for any messages etc. It is actually using thsoi approach for the prices display in the product workspace.

To fix this, if you look in your browser options you will see an area for languages settings (Firefox - Tools-> Options ->General -> Languages , IE - Tools -> Internet Options - >Languages). Make sure you have English (New Zealand) selected. I think you may have English (UK) set and hence the pound signs appearing.

In regards the GST values I am not sure what you mean. Can you send me a screen shot of the Customer ->Charges screen with a few charges entered ?

Cheers Tony

Sorted missing Gst entries. Messaging ?

Hi Tony,

I sorted my Gst problem by setting up a new tax at 12.5 %. This worked fine whereas

the original Gst wouldnt appear in boxes downstream of supplier? Once I checked it

worked I deleted the original tax and renamed the new tax to GST and it works fine.

Somehow earlier on  I managed to stop it charging GST on each unit and rounding it up and

over paying the taxman but Im uncertain how I managed to sort this.

I note that the messaging and the entry below it are not working. Are these modules not installed

on 1.2 B as I can not find anyway of setting them up.

Regarding entries on the location page for those offshore, I find suburb and postcode useful and

just enter the towns/localities as states. Perhaps an option to call this box locality (LOC), or something similar,

rather than state but its only cosmetic so not really an issue.

I will continue experimenting and inputing a few products. A product database like the online one would be nice

in a latter release provided you could delete and modify entries as needed.

Thanks

Geoff

Spoke too soon GST box

Hi,

Just noted that if I use the  OTC link at the bottom of the workflow page the resulting charge page fails to show the amount of tax in the appropriate box.

On the customer charge out page however it now works fine showing tax for both invoices and OTC entries and in the resulting printouts.

RE: Spoke too soon GST box

Hi Geoff,

The missing messaging workspace is definitely a beta-1 release bug which has been rectified. The Investigation workspace is not developed yet and part of the work of the Investigations Working Group being put together.

I have just had a look at OTC GST issue and I am sure it is also bug in the 1.2 beta 1 release. Not something you have done incorrectly. I will test here and then raise a JIRA so it is fixed in the Beta-2 release.

Changing the name of State to Location/Locality etc is simple to achieve.

1. Go to Administration ->Archetypes 2. Click Select and enter in search box *contact.location* 3. Select the contact.location archetype from the list. 4. Click Edit 5. Select the State Node and edit the Display Name field to the name you want. 6. Save (OK)

That's it. You can populate the dropdown list using the lookup workspace.

I think a base list of products is a good idea but I was hesitant to provide and maintain one given how prices age and products differ from area to area. I will work on one and post mechanism to load on forums. Once loaded you can always add and remove products.

Cheers Tony
