Patient / Client Merge

We are finding a number of clerical errors where clients and / or patients have been added twice. I know we can change ownership of the patients but this will create 2 pets of the same name in the client file with their individual histories.

Is there a set way to merge these patients and histories and can you also merge the clients so their accounts merge or can you only attach patient to one and deactivate the other?

A recent case had a duplicated client and patient file but somehow the client numbers were the same???

Re: Patient / Client Merge

Hi Nick,  Sure is! If you log in as ADMIN you will find the MERGE utility at the bottom of the CUSTOMER / INFORMATION and PATIENT / INFORMATION screens. :) When you merge the customers all transactions will be in the ACCOUNT workspace. When you merge patients all history will be collated in the MEDICAL RECORDS workspace.  I am very surprised to hear you had two customers with the same ID number. Are you sure it wasn't one customer file with duplicate patient records? I am not sure how or why a customer number would be duplicated. Would need feedback from one of the more technical forum members on this one!  Hope this helps..  :)  Gerrie   Gerrie Cooney BSc Business Development Consultant  Essentia Consulting

merge

It may have been just because when I searched the same client came up with 2 patients of the same name - it just looked as if it were 2 clients on the search result each with  a patient of same name. After patient merging only 1 client of that name and no!

Re: Patient / Client Merge

Hi Nick, I'm not sure about your last issue but there is a Merge function for patients. I suspect it is there for customers as well.

Log in as Admin user->go to Information in Patient. Click Merge. Note that previous transactions remain with the customer they were billed to (as they should).

Re: Patient / Client Merge

Hi,

Is there a way to make it that our Receptionists have permission to merge Customers/Patients?

Or a log in that isn't quite Admin, but has permission to merge?

Greta

Re: Patient / Client Merge

At present, customer and patient merging is restricted to administrators.

There is a project to make permissions such as these available to other users: Enhance OpenVPMS user authorities
