[OpenVPMS Developers] 1.6b3 readme suggestions
When I did the upgrade from 1.5.1 to 1.6b3 I encountered the following "problems" which could be remedied by adding more information to the readme.txt file:
a) where to get the subscription key? When there is no subscription key loaded, the link on the login page takes you to the 'pay subscription' page http://www.openvpms.org/subscription-form [1]. However, if you have a current subscription, then what you need is the 'how to get a key' information. I dug out the email that contained the receipt for our subscription and sent that to 'subscription@openvpms.org' [2] with a request for the key.
Can I suggest that the readme.txt is enhance to include something like: "As from 1.6, the login screen contains a subscription nag message and a link to pay your subscription. If you have a current subsription email a copy of your receipt to subscription@openvpms.org [3] and request a key. To insert the key edit the practice record.
b) where is the directory/folder? Although is defined, is not.
Can I suggest that text be added to say where normally is. ie on a Win7 system it is "C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0" - and on a windows machine the connector needs to be copied to /lib (not /shared/lib)
c) what do implementors need to do? I knew I had to do something to upgrade the OPV loader stuff for Kettle. I had to dig around to find the necessary.
Can I suggest that a "For Implementors" section be added to the readme that contains something like:
copy the OpenVPMS jars to Kettle's libext/spring directory by doing: cp plugins/steps/OpenVPMSLoader/*.jar libext/spring/
