1.7 Alpha - CSH query - product equivalents

Am I correct in thinking that defining equivalents for a product is a 'documentation only' feature.

That is if you set product A as having an equivalent AA, then if you enter A on the invoice, the system will not say "pssst AA is equivalent".

Also there is no easy way to swap AA for A, ie if you enter A on an invoice, and then look at the invoice line item, A will be a link to its product details - but if, on the product screen, you click the equivalents tab, and see AA as the equivent, there is no way that you can easily replace A by AA in the invoice. You must delete theA line item and key in a new one for AA.

Can someone confirm that the above is correct (ie equivalents are just a documentation feature), or if I am wrong, tell me how equivalents work.

Re: 1.7 Alpha - CSH query - product equivalents

Its not used within the app at present. I wouldn't be surprised if it was added to support migration from other systems.

That said, it could be used if there was no stock on hand for a product selected an estimate or invoices.

If not sure what you mean when you say "there is no easy way to swap AA for A". You don't need to delete an invoice item to change products; just edit the Product field and enter the correct name.

Re: 1.7 Alpha - CSH query - product equivalents

Sorry - I should have been clearer. What I meant was that if you call up the product (via its link in in the invoice item) and examine the equivalents tab, there is no 'Use this product instead' button.  You have to remember the equivalent and then go back and edit the product field to change the name.

No worries - I will tweak the CSH page.
