15 concurrnet users

Hi,
We have an opportunity to replace our hardware,. We are moving past server functions to the cloud ie Email, shared data, etc. We'd like to keep the h/w serving of the VPMS s/w simple to keep h/w and support costs down. Ideally our preference is to deliver software services through internet browser. We have previously run a MS windows server operating system serving for 10 concurrent users network. We'd like to avoid the cost of a new MS Windows Server however we are not IT boffins. Is there a cloud version of VPMS? Are their any other suggestions to that we could comfortably service 10 concurrent users as well as install and manage at our clinic?
Any advice appreciated. Thanks
Tim
Re: 15 concurrnet users
Hi Tim,
The simple answer is yes. OpenVPMS can run locally on Windows, Linux, Mac etc or be hosted in the cloud through any number of cloud virtual machine hosting services (I have used Rackspace, Amazon, Ninefold etc). I have setup a number of practices that utilise this approach. The cloud services can be setup for virtually any number of concurrent users the only issue is cost for appropriate memory and cpu. As far as secure access to the cloud service is concerned you can setup a VPN between your local network to the cloud server and also access the cloud server from any number of remote or mobile devices. The device just needs to have a browser and VPN capability so read PCs, Macs, Ipads etc. This is not complicated or time consuming.
Cloud computing is heavily reliant on the Internet so you should carefully consider your Internet Service Provider, Service Levels Agreements and backup Internet devices. Again lots of options here.
I would be happy to provide you more detailed information if you wanted to contact me here
