2 way sms

Are SMS replies possible in 2.3? I notice that there is a new workspace for them but all of the documentation for the individual sms methods still say that receiving sms replies in openvpms is not possible.

SMS replies aren't supported in the plugins shipped with OpenVPMS:

  • the email-to-SMS gateways don't provide a common mechanism we can use to get replies back into OpenVPMS
  • while Clickatell does support SMS replies, we haven't implemented it in the Clickatell plugin as:
    • the method to get replies doesn't yet fit with our plugin and security model
    • the configuration is non-trivial for end-users

There is a commercial plugin available for MessageMedia that does support two way and doesn't have the same limitations as Clickatell. Contact support[at]openvpms[dot]com for details.
