Adding a suburb

Hi,

I've added the suburb Wynnum West and I've attached a postcode and the state QLD.

This is still not availabe in the list of states under QLD, it's definitely active, I've logged in and out. Does anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Sandra.

Re: Adding a suburb

Hi Sandra,

This is a bug that I think you have seen before and has been detailed (technically) here: https://openvpms.atlassian.net/browse/OBF-196

The work around is to do the following: 1. Select State in Administration ->Lookups 2. Edit State and add a new suburb relationship. 3. Add new suburb in suburb selection screen. 4. Save state.

If you do it the opposite way round the suburb will not appear when the state is selected.

Hope this helps.

Cheers Tony

Re: Adding a suburb

Hi Tony,

Since our upgrade to 2.0, I cannot get this to work. I have tried to add a new suburb, which didn't work. Then tried the above way, by editing the State, but still doesn't work.

Could it possibly be something with the new upgrade?

Re: Adding a suburb

When editing the State, you need to make a change to it and then click Apply to force the internal caches to update. The easiest way to do this is to toggle the Default check box.

E.g.:

1. edit the State lookup that the Suburb belongs to
2. tick Default
3. click Apply
4. untick Default  (to put it back to the original desired value)
5. click OK

This bug has been fixed for the 2.0.1 release due out in the next few weeks.

Thanks Tim, that fixed it.

Adding a duplicate suburb

I am trying to add a duplicate suburb, eg. we already have Hamilton (VIC) and i need to add Hamilton (QLD).  I did follow the instructions in reply to Sandra's post and i still could not add the second Hamilton.  I got an error report saying that it was a "duplicate suburb" and failed to save.

Re: Adding a duplicate suburb

Re: [OpenVPMS Users] Adding a duplicate suburb Hi Caz, Yes, definitely a problem.  Lookups are usually unique within a specific lookup type.  Suburbs are different as they unique for a name and postcode pair.  We take this into account when migrating data into OpenVPMS but the lookup editor does not and tries to utilise the name for the unique code.  I will jira this for a fix in next release. In mean time you can do a work around but a little convoluted. Firstly we need to change the lookup.suburb archetype to show the lookup code while you are adding a new suburb.  Typically the code is hidden. To do this:
  1. Go to Administration -> Archetypes
  2. Click Select and enter *lookup.suburb* in the search box and hit enter.
  3. Select the lookup.suburb archetype from the list.
  4. Click Edit button
  5. Select the code Node
  6. untick the hidden checkbox
  7. Click OK
Now in Administration -> Lookups add a new suburb and you will notice the Code field is visible.  Enter  the Name and Postcode for Hamilton QLD and in the Code set it to HAMILTON_4007 (same format for any other suburb you may add) and save as normal.   This should work   :-) Cheers Tony On 22/06/09 11:33 AM, "Caz" : > I am trying to add a duplicate suburb, eg. we already have Hamilton (VIC) and > i need to add Hamilton (QLD).  I did follow the instructions in reply to > Sandra's post and i still could not add the second Hamilton.  I got an error > report saying that it was a "duplicate suburb" and failed to > save. _______________________________________________ OpenVPMS User Mailing > List users@lists.openvpms.org To unsubscribe or change your subscription > visit: //lists.openvpms.org/listinfo/users">http://lists.openvpms.org/listinfo/users Posts from this mailing list > can be viewed online and replied to in the OpenVPMS User's forum- > //tinyurl.com/openvfu">http://tinyurl.com/openvfu

Adding a Suburb

Hi Sandra.

You need to make sure you use underscore between words in Code line.

ie WYNNUM_WEST_4178

Wynnum West

4178

Then add State and apply and then ok - seems to work.

Adding a Suburb

Sandra @ Bellarine

Hi Geoff,

I just tried this but the underscore appears in the patient address field as Wynnum_West.  I think this would look odd on an invoice, etc.

Does this happen to you?

Sandra.

Duplicate suburb adding

Hey Sandra,

You have probably sorted this one out but just in case,

The unscored version WYNNUM_WEST should only appear in the "Code" field. In the 'Name"  field keep you normal "Wynnum West".

If you dont see a Code field then you need to do the Archetype change that Tony detailed afew posts back.

Hope it helps :)
