Adding Vaccinations

Hello, new user just starting out. I was wondering what product archetype most people have added standard cat and dog vaccinations as (c3, c5 KC, Fe3 ect). Not sure what would be best out of Medication or Service? I have added a few as services but then they aren't showing up in the medical history the way medications do?
TIA.

Re: Adding Vaccinations

So the way I do it ...and keep in mind there are many ways

We charge a

Vaccine Consult (service) and a Product(Bordetella Vaccine) - they are separate charges...

[For a C5 - we charge

  • Consult
  • C3
  • BB/KC ]

We handle this by setting up a  Product template.  The reminder is added to the Product NOT the consult. The product and consult are not chargeable (we tick the template only box)

This has 2 effects .

1. Medications can be stock controlled and can have batch numbers which is critical to reporting.

2. I can also use price increases in vaccinations to filter through to my vaccine prices..and don't need to review prices as much.

The template also allows me to combine and print an aggregate total. So clients only see the 1 charge - however I can print a separate total for insurance companies that basically means when a client presents for a sore foot and happens to get a vaccine they can still claim a portion of the consults. Assuming the insurer agrees.

But that's just 1 way -

Other practices just use a single Medication Charge but I felt this didn't work as well for us.

Re: Adding Vaccinations

Thank you Ben, that is terribly helpful and looks like a very good way of doing it.

Regards, Cam.

Re: Adding Vaccinations

We just use medications.

One for each type (C4, C5 etc)

Prepare for heresy.....

We don't use stock control.

So this works for us.

Cheers,

Matt
