Being logged out of forums

Hi,

On numerous occassions recently I have received the message "web page expired" as I've been moving around the forums. eg: add or read a post and then click on the back arrow, get the web page has expired message, have to log in again over and over again.

It's getting to the point where it's incredibly frustrating and I've lost several lengthly posts when I've attached something and then viewed the attachment and tried to go back. Can someone tell me if this has something to do with my computer, trouble with the openvpms website or an internet provider?

Sandra.

Re: Being logged out of forums

Hi Sandra, I'm not sure why. I can report that I often have multiple windows open so I can read posts and write new ones at the same time. Sometimes open for lengthy periods. I haven't encountered this issue.

Sorry, Matt C

Trouble posting

Hi Sandra,

I think what's happening here is that you are navigating away from the page before anything is saved and then trying to go back to a page that you haven't submitted. It depends partly on which browser you are using. I am using safari and it saves the data and will resubmit it if I navigate away but I don't think all browsers have this ability.

If you are adding a post make sure you keep the window/tab that you are working on open. If you want to check an attachment from the preview page hold down the control or command key when you click the link so that the browser opens it in another tab/window, and then the one you are posting on will stay open.

Are you actually getting logged out of the site completely? Because that shouldn't be happening. If that is happening do you have cookies enabled because the website uses cookies to keep you logged in?

Hope that helps,
Matt Young.

Being logged out of forums

Sandra @ Bellarine

Hi,

I'm being logged out on different occassions, some times it's as simple as going into the forums, viewing a post, and then clicking on BACK to view the next post in the list.

I'm being consistently logged out if I add a post, preview it and then submit it, I haven't tried to add an attachment since I first added this post.

Out of interest, above you mention the command key, what is that?

Sandra.

Hi Matt,

Just thought I'd let you know after entering the post above and previewing and submitting it, I received the webpage has expired message and it suggested I try refreshing my screen.  The address in the browser began with openvpms and ended with comments/reply/944. I refreshed my screen, which I haven't tried doing before and 'ended up back in openvpms with a 'smart optimizer error that kept appearing each time I clicked on anything.

This is only a recent development, it's only been happening over last three weeks, I was using the forums up until without any problems.

Sandra.

Re: New or updated comment for General User's Discussion Forum t

Hi Sandra,

That's very helpful, thanks. I've just cleared the smartoptimizer cache but you may have to clear your cache as well. Are you using Internet Explorer 7 or 8 (go to help menu in IE and about if you're not sure and then I can tell you how)? If you tell me which browser I'll post instructions of how to clear the cache. I can't reproduce it using any browsers here so I think there's something wrong with your cache.

The command key is only on apple computers so you don't have one.

Hopefully this resolves it for you,
Matt.

Re: New or updated comment for General User's Discussion Forum

I just posted how I was getting the smart cache error as well.. But then I just read Matts reply here and have subsequently discoered this has fixed the dialog from popping up my end. Cheers to you Matt Y.

Re: Being Logged out of forums

I'm getting smart optimizer error as well lately. Every time I navigate to a new page in the forums. I meant to post about this last night.

Me Again Sorry!  Have logged in and out of openvpms website and I am still getting the smart optimizer error each time I click anywhere when I'm in the website.  I logged out, turned off my computer (that's as far as my technical ability can stretch!), started up again, now I'm back on the website and still getting the error. Any ideas how to get rid of it?

I have attached a copy of the full error for you to see.

Sandra.

Re: Being logged out of forums

Hi Sandra,

Think you will find this is a local system/profile issue and nothing to do with the web site or forums. Believe you need to speak to your system administrator /integrator to solve this one ... :-)

Cheers Tony

Hi Matt,

I'm using internet explorer 7.

Sandra.

Re: New or updated comment for General User's Discussion Forum t

In internet explorer go to tools>internet options. On the general tab under browsing history click the delete button. This brings up a new dialogue. delete the temporary internet files and the cookies.

Then open www.openvpms.org . You will need to login in again and it should all be good.
