Cancelling out 'Manual' Reminders
Submitted by Guest on Fri, 25/11/2011 - 22:33
Hi All,
Yes, I am still on about reminders...
Most of our reminders are currently linked to products. However, some are not (eg: cardiac recheck). If we set up a 'cardiac recheck' reminder for a patient and the client comes in for the recheck while the reminder is still in progress (we usually set a 2 week reminder interval with an 8 week cancellation interval), then how can we get the reminder to cancel itself out?
Do we have to reset it manually? (God forbid!)
Or should we just make the reminder and cancellation interval 2 weeks - (so just one reminder is sent and we don't keep hassling the client with 'reminders' after they have already been in for the heart recheck??).
Am I confused??
Cheers,
Amanda.
Re: Cancelling out 'Manual' Reminders
Hi Amanda,
Why don't you add a new product called cardiac check and link the reminder to that product. Then if you check a heart charge the fee. You can always price it as $0 and charge other consultation fees.

Re: Cancelling out 'Manual' Reminders
Hi Matt,
What's the proper configuration on the reminder type to not have it create yet another cardiac check when that product is sold?
Thanks, Paul
Re: Cancelling out 'Manual' Reminders
Bump. Any ideas on this?
Thanks, Paul
Re: Cancelling out 'Manual' Reminders
Hi Paul,
Actually I thought setting the reminder period to 0 would generate the reminder but mark it as Completed rather than In Progress but unfortunately it doesn't.
Think we should implement this.

Re: Cancelling out 'Manual' Reminders
Hi Tony,
Even in that implementation, isn't in counter-intuitive to have a completed reminder generated as a result of selling a product? It seems to me that it should complete any in-progress reminder, and stop there (not generating any new reminder)... I can't see any use case for generating a reminder in this case, so the fix/enhancement could be to not generate if the period is 0, and just complete any linked reminders.
We've been attempting to manually complete all the reminders... but it's just so much work that we've given up on that. Instead, we're just accepting that reminder status is faulty data.
Cheers, Paul

Has some change been planned here, or new insights into how to have the reminders cancelled?
Thanks, Paul
