Deactivated Animals

Morning

Can anyone please tell why animals that are deceased or deactivated are still coming up when you do a search for a client.
I have an animal that has been put on twice under the same surname, but different first name and the same animal.
Now i have end ownership of the animal with one client and it no longer comes up when you are in that client file but when you do a search for that surname and animal i get two options coming up and you can not tell which one is right until you have gone into the client.
I can not deactivate the old ownership as they have other animals. How do I stop having two of that animal coming up when i search.
Why is there an include deactivated animals if they are going to come up anyway or is this just my system that is doing it.

Thanks joss

Re: Deactivated Animals

Hi Joss,

If you are doing a customer search and enter a patient name it currently only filters deactivated customers not deactivated patients. The include deactivated option applies to customer information only not patient information. So yes, it will find customers that are not deactivated but have deactivated patients that match the name. By design but can be changed so include deactivated checkbox applies to both customers, patients and contacts..

Ownership deactivation (a valid end date on the ownership that is < now) currently still displays matches of name and patient on the previous ownerships. By design but again can be changed so deactivated checkbox applies to ownerships as well ...

Please note the Patient search will not include deactivated/deceased patients and patients will not display in the customer patients list unless you request to see them ..

Typically if the same animal appears on two different customers and they are the same patient you do a Patient Merge not leave the two instances and deactivate either the patient or the ownership.

Cheers Tony

Deactivated Animals

Hi Joss,

I was thinking about this and the way it works is actually not correct.

Although you should have the option to search through deactivated patients and relationships thsi should be controlled through the deactivated checkbox rather than the default.

I have added a JIRA for it to work in a more logical way.

https://openvpms.atlassian.net/browse/OVPMS-897

In the case of the same patient having relationships to two customers and the original relationship was never a valid one, I suggest removing the relationship record in the patients customers tab.  i.e show the relationship by unticking the hide inactive relationships check box and then highlighting it and clicking Delete button.

This way the patient will not show up twice during customer searching.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Tony
