Email Address Default

Hi All,

We welcomed the emailing feature within Open in the last update. Unfortunately last week we had an incident where a client was emailed a history inadvertently (it was meant to go to the referring vet).

The problem I see is that when an email is created from within OpenVPMS the default email address is the client's. This may be ok for general practices but here we email referring vets as often as we do clients. Hence the snafu above. I just takes one tired person after a night shift to not realise the email address is the clients/forget to change the address and a client gets an email not intended for them.

Is there any interest in a change whereby either:

1) There is no default email address. The address has to be picked each time. Unless of course there is only one email address associated with the client.

2) A default email address order can be set system wide (e.g. for us this would be ref vet email followed by client email).

My thought would be option 1 would be best as for most clinics the client is the only person you will have an email address for. For others it gives us the flexibility to choose on a case by case basis.

Re: Email Address Default

I agree that there should be no default selection.

What if the type of user was also displayed next to their name?

E.g.:

Blogs, J - Customer

Smith, F - Referring Vet

We Be Vets - Referring Practice

Re: Email Address Default

Hi,

I would be concerned if there was no default and the  user had to select an email address every time, especially if there was only one email address to select.

Maybe we could overcome this by saying if only one email address exists then select it by default otherwise no default and the the user has to select.

Addin the name to the address is also a good move.

Cheers Tony
