Email database
Hi there,
We have just started gathering clients e-mail addresses, and adding them to the "e-mail contact" section in the "contact" section of the "Customers - Information" page.
We are hoping to be able to use these e-mail addresses to send out mass e-mails to the clients, ie: promotions, newsletters etc.
Can somebody please tell me how to e-mail a document (ie: a newsletter) to all the clients e-mail addresses we have gathered and entered into their customer information file? We normally use g-mail to send e-mails. Is there a way of selecting certain group of clients to e-mail? (ie: clients with pets over 8 years of age)

There is no facility in OpenVPMS to directly do what you want. The only way to do it is to build a report that will output the email addresses in an export format that you can use to generate the mail that you need.
I will see if I can generate such a report for you [I seem to remeber building one for another user]. Give me a couple of days.

Hi,
The Customer Marketing Export report and the Patient Marketing export report both output email addresses as well as client and patient details respectively. The resultant output files can then be readily filtered in excel or open office calc to only include those entries with non blank email addresses and then this can be used to do mass emails.
The other benefit is these reports can also filter but lots of other criteria including visit dates, patient date of birth, species etc.
