How to search for customers of an "Account Type"
Submitted by Guest on Mon, 03/11/2008 - 11:05
Hi Matt,
I am trying to create a list of customers of an "Account Type" for a Christmas card list. I am unsure how to create this, any help would be great. Cheers Gill.

Hey Gill,
I reckon the best way to generate this list is via the current reporting system. I'll create a report and email it to you. You will need to add it as a new report template. I'll post the report design in the documents section in "Community" on the website too so you can see how its done.
Gill are you intending to print he cards yourself or are you going to use the list to generate them by hand? If you wanted to do a merge to a printed document it probably would just take a little more research.... not that much
Cheers,
Matt

Have a report Gill can utilise that provides an account type parameter to limit client list to a specific account type. Just need to create template page on shared templates group so available to everyone to utilise ..
Also working on a direct open office mechanism to do a document merge using the same query .. will document soon on web site .. will be useful for all kinds of marketing document merges
Cheers Tony

Customer report by Account type
Hi & thanks Tony,
So Gill, Tony has posted a report template here
http://www.openvpms.org/customisation/customer-list-report
To use it,
Download it
Create a template within Administration->Templates setting the "Archetype" to "Report"
Set your user level (according to whom you would like to see it)
Then go to Reporting->Reports
.... there it is.
Note if you want to see how the SQL works within the document do the following;
Open iReport (care with what version u save your reports - see here http://www.openvpms.org/op-incompatability-with-version-205-i-reports)
Open the downloaded document
Go to Data menu
Choose Report Query
Thanks
Thanks heaps Matt and Tony, I will let you know how things go with this later in the week.
Cheers Gill.
