An idea on how users can help fund OpenVPMS developments without putting their hands in their pockets

Hi Everyone,

Our practice is planning to contribute some funds to the development / enhancement of the reminders on OpenVPMS. This development has been discussed at great length on the forums, it's titled "Reminders - All reminders printing on one card - not one card for each patient".

I thought it would be a good idea to let everyone know how we plan to contribute to the funding of this without actually having to put our hands in our pockets. I thought this may appeal to others!

I have contacted Bayer and they are allowing us to use our Bayer Accelerate Marketing Points. We joined this program approximately 18 months ago through our rep and have been accumulating points every since. These points are traditionally used for marketing but Jim Angelis from Bayer has ok'd us to use our points to fund our contribution to the new reminder development.

This is how it works - Bayer Acclerate participating practices enter their monthly purchases of Bayer products onto a website (Provet fax us a list at the end of each month) each purchase earns us points and these points can be used to pay for marketing activities. The idea to use these points to fund our contribution to the reminder development was a bit out of the ordinary but we thought sending treament reminders came under the marketing banner and any way of making this task more efficient may qualify. Bayer came to the party which we were pretty happy about.

I've added this post because I thought practices that are members of the Bayer Accelerate Program may not realise that they can use their points to help with developments of OpenVPMS . If you are not a member and would like to start accruing points to dare I suggest help fund future developments on OpenVPMS, this is a way you may be able to do it without having to put your hand in your pocket, Just a thought!

If you would like any information about this program you could email Jim Angelis at Bayer: jim.angelis[at]bayerhealthcare.com[dot]au

Hi All, That's a great idea Sandra and good on Bayer for being so supportive. I wonder whether any other companies would be interested in using their reward points to pay for development projects? Peter

Thanks Tony, Does anyone out there feel they have a strong enough relationship with either of these companies that they could make some discreet inquiries about the possibility? Peter

Bayer and accelerate points

hey everyone,

We met with Jim and had a great chat about OpenVPMS and he was very supportive. We really appreciate Bayers approach in this regard and we have invited them to participate in the development process in these forums as well.

Great things...
