The inclusion of rich text editing into OpenVPMS

Hi everyone,
It sure has been a busy day in the OpenVPMS forums!

I have been keen for some time to ask others what they might think about the possibility of enhancing text editing in OpenVPMS.
Currently we can only enter text as plain text, ie. no formatting.

Occasionally in histories I wish I could emphasise certain elements by making them bold or even applying certain features such as indenting. Printing such histories would be more readable I suspect. And for those of you who use macros to create SOAP style templates, having the SOAP headers in bold would certainly aid readability.

In letters I often wish I could enter formatting.

I certainly dont think we need a full set of text formatting tools such as in word or openoffice but a basic set such as that found say in the HTML editors of common forums would be great.

Does this idea fall on fertile soil? Or is it better used a fertiliser? :)

Cheers,
Matt C

Re: The inclusion of rich text editing into OpenVPMS

Hi Matt,

We have access to a rich text user interface component that seems to work quite well. Apart from stipulating which text areas should use this component we would also need to make sure they display correctly say in the patient summary as the resultant text they produce is generally html.

Not to difficult from a brief play ...

Cheers tony

Re: The inclusion of rich text editing into OpenVPMS

Hey Tony, That's good news. The areas I can think of that might be best suited for formatted text are;

Medical Records->Notes Letters -> Parameter entry (might be a bit tricky?) Drug Labels? Wouldn't have enormous use in our hands.

Can't think of any others at the momemnt. Anyone else?
