Label Printer

We are currently using a Dymo label printer and having a lot of problems. It seems to print about 50 wasted labels for one good one. Just wondering what everyone else is using and any printers people can recommend.
Thanks,

Label printers

Hey Greta,

We had exactly the same problem.

We use the Seiko label printers talked about here:

//www.openvpms.org/label-printers#comment-692">www.openvpms.org/label-printers#comment-692

Never had a problem (except once when we put the wrong label type in).

I bought them from www.labelcity.com.au where we also buy our labels from.

Would you anyone be interested in bulk buying collectively from these guys? Might be able to negotiate a better price all round.

We use this label type:

Label printers,

Our Seiko 440 has worked fine so far. I have just ordered 20 rolls from Label City and their final checkout price was lower than the initial discounted price so maybe they will discount further on big bulk - worth a try

It may be worth a call to Labelcity to explain this to them, they can supply printer cleaner strips that often seem to resolve the problem.

RE: Label Printer

Hey Mark, Part of the problem for us was that Dymo changed their specification for labels and that only Dymo labels were g'teed to work reliably. We tried so many things and were so frustrated that we changed them all. Anyone want to purchase 3 Dymo label printers?

RE: Label Printer

Matt,

I know about the change in the DYMO label printers a couple of years ago. It only affected the updated DYMO 400 initially, but they may have done it to all since then. The Seiko SLP range work fine with the generic Vet labels from label city. Unfortunately they are not as fast as the DYMO, but still perfectly usable(the labels are always printed by the time I sprint to the dispensary 3m away).

For DYMO printers that have work fine and suddenly stoppped I recommend the following: - quadruple check that the labels are loaded correctly - ditto the label size definition in Printer setup(I use 30258 Diskette size bu I think 30252 Address is the same) - if the problem still exists then get the cleaner stuff from Labelcity. I have never done this but I know vets that have and it worked.
