Multiple client/patient charge

Hi,
I am not sure if this would cause too many problems, but would anyone else find it useful to be able to group charge from the worklist.
We would like to be able to charge a hospitalisation charge to all the patients in our worklist by less clicks of the mouse.
So, click on "muffy" & "ted" & "max" and then add charges to the multiple patients.

Re: Multiple client/patient charge
Just so I understand what you mean:
1. select one or more patients. The patients may be owned by different customers
2. select 'Group Charge'
3. an editor is displayed which allows you to enter charge items. It doesn't display the patients, as each patient is billed for the same items
4. you click OK, and the invoices for each patient are created or updated accordingly
I presume that dispensing would not be allowed - you would only be able to charge for services or merchandise? Alternatively, you would be prompted to fill out any medications or investigations associated with a product once you press OK, for each patient.
If you find yourself repeatedly billing the same group of products, you can simplify this by creating a product template which contains them all.

Re: Multiple client/patient charge
I could see this being useful for us as well. It would specifically be the same context that Greta has described ie. The large hospital population. All hospitalised patients are charged a set of standard professional fees each day. When there are large numbers it can become a bit tiresome.
Would other clinics with large hospital populations find this unique suggestion useful?
I also think Tims comment about this not being applicable to medications is correct. Doses would vary, labels should vary etc. It would also complicate the development reasonably significantly if it needed to include generating dispensing events like label generation.
I wonder where would this selection occur? Would it be a good time to look at allowing multiple selections in Worklists (Alt-Left click)? You could imagine other functions that might be useful from a multiple perspective (Transfer, Delete, Change status).

Re: Multiple client/patient charge
Hi Matt and Tim,
This is what Greta means. In our case it would only be for services (ie hospitalisation). The idea would be to select multiple patients at once from the worklist and then apply the same charge to them all. The status of the patient within the hospital would not change - ie they would remain "in progress". A keyboard shortcut to select them all would be ideal.
Thanks

OK. Reminders, investigations and medications complicate things a little, so if these can be ignored its easier to implement.
Would you expect templates to work as well?

Re: Multiple client/patient charge
Hey Tim,
How would services with linked reminders & investigations be excluded from the product selection?
Would the product selector only furnish a limited list of services?

Re: Multiple client/patient charge
I'd be tempted to ignore any reminders and investigations associated with the products, but its really up to you guys.
For interactive reminders and all investigations a dialog would be displayed as they are with charging at the moment. If you are charging all hospital patients, then this could trigger a lot of popups.

Tim
