Need for QuickBooks or similar

I am considering OpenVPMS for my business (just starting a house call biz now). Do I need to have another accounting system such as QuickBooks or similar?

Hi Paula,

While OpenVPMS tracks the details of who's been charged, what's been invoiced, etc.... it doesn't handle accounting type transactions (journal entries, depreciations, etc...) that you'll need to run the business part. I'm using GnuCash, which is free. You can check it out here: http://gnucash.org/
