[OpenVPMS Developers] [JIRA] (OVPMS-1113) Detect iPad to force screen resolution to select landscape display,

Message from Tim Anderson (Created) (JIRA) jira@openvpms.org

Detect iPad to force screen resolution to select landscape display, -------------------------------------------------------------------

Key: OVPMS-1113 URL: https://openvpms.atlassian.net/browse/OVPMS-1113 Project: VPMS Web Application Issue Type: Improvement Components: User Interface Affects Versions: 1.5, 1.4 Reporter: Tim Anderson Assignee: Tony De Keizer Priority: Minor

When using an iPad to connect to OpenVPMS, Safari reports the display resolution as 768x1024 if the browser is started in portrait mode. OpenVPMS calculates dialog sizes using 768 as the screen width - if the iPad is rotated to landscape, the dialogs will retain the portrait mode sizing. OpenVPMS should always base iPad resolutions on the landscape resolution.

Re: [OpenVPMS Developers] [JIRA] (OVPMS-1113) Detect iPad to ...

Not sure if it matters now but this applies to all tablets...I tested it on a Kindle Fire last night...openVpms was unusable due to dialogs not having scroll bars.I could see that the patient search result dialog had a whole heap but the dialog size cut it off on the 2nd line.  Mind you android tablets can use lots of different browsers so we may need to standardize browsers or atleast suggest the use of firefox or chrome (if its available) I was using a browser called Dolphin.

I've encountered the same issue with the iPad, I got around this by using the Terra browser from the app store and going full screen.  From there it seems to work fine.

In OpenVPMS 1.5, you can customize the stylesheets to support different screen resolutions.

For Safari on the iPad, you'll need to wait for the OVPMS-1113 changes in 1.6 to get the best support.

For other platforms, check out the instructions on how to do this on the JIRA for OVPMS-723.
