The kettle plugin is converting the input value to a lookup.local node to uppercase and replacing non-alphanumeric characters with underscores. This behaviour should only be performed on lookup nodes; lookup.local values should be passed through unchanged, as they should correspond to a value specified by the lookup.local assertion.
