openvpms on ipad or laptop?

Newbie here,

how easy is it to install openvpms on my laptop or ipad, for purposes of billing on calls, or writing histories from home?

Is it doable, and if so, how?

Cheers, Belinda

Re: openvpms on ipad or laptop?

Hey Belinda,

I'm only back after a long period of absence in the forums, so excuse me if my answer is at all rusty. I'm sure the more up to date guys will correct me if needed.

Firstly, for  some of what you have asked for the person who may need to help you might be the person who installed  OpenVPMS for you. Whats below is what is possible and what we do ourselves.

Assuming you have OpenVPMS installed at work and wish to access it at home from you laptop or tablet, the solution would be to get access to your work network at home. Typically this would be done through some sort of secure connection called a VPN. A IT person would need to help you set this up securely unless you know how.

Once a VPN or similiar connection is possible, you can connect through that on either a laptop or a tablet and access your version of OpenVPMS through a web browser. I prefer a laptop myself. Text entry in a tablet is not much fun but it is OK to look at schedules etc.

Good luck!

Matt
