Proposal for new Workflow Schedule View Type
Current Behaviour
Currently OpenVPMS allows you to view a single schedule / multiple schedules as a day or week view, or it allows you to view worklists as a single or multple view as defined by worklist views and schedules views.
Proposal:
I propose a new View type - Combo View. It allows you to view multiple schedules and worklists in the one view . perhaps with a split window vertically. Schedules on the Left Worklists on the right. This view may require 2 x expressions one for worklists and 1 for schedules.
Reasoning
Schedules - were designed for making visits / appointments / hospital stays with a view that they were linked to specific dates and times.
Worklists were defined as task lists. Commonly they are used to store a list of Followups or perhaps a list of patients in hospital.
Staff generally want a synopsis in 1 screen - as a result I see a lot of bastardized schedules being used as a place to make notes for followups and phonecalls. The times have no real relevance to the actual call. Often if it doesnt get completed one day it gets copied and pasted to the next. This isnt optimal.
The proposal above may provide a view that is more optimal for some businesses
Re: Proposal for new Workflow Schedule View Type
A unified appointment and task view might suffer from issues of lack of screen real-estate.
Would it work to be able to see appointments and tasks for a particular clinician?
This could be done by displaying two areas:
Displays the appointments and the clinician has for a given day
Each slot has the schedule, customer, patient and appointment type.
There would be blank slots where the clinician has no appointments
If rostering is enabled, unavailable times would be shown.
Displays the outstanding tasks for the clinician.
Each slot has the worklist, customer, patient, and task type.
Re: Proposal for new Workflow Schedule View Type
I just figured you could replace one of these columns with a task list - allowing the expressions for each to be linked to the type of list/schedule displayed should fix screen real estate issues
