Reminder Dates NOT inclusive

Hi Everyone,

I may be the only one that's been in the dark with this, but I was under the impression that when we processed patient reminders for a partiuclar date range eg: 1st Jan to 10th Jan that all the reminders went out in the range INCLUDING the 10th January reminders. They don't, they only process from the 1st Jan to 9th Jan the 'process to' date is not inclusive.
Thought it would be handy for everyone else to know this - if you didn't already?

Sandra.

Re: Reminder Dates NOT inclusive

Hi Sandra,

I have just completed some testing and I have confirmed this is the case.

Some explanation though may help understand how this has happened. The reminder due dates are calculated by adding the reminder period to the date the reminder was created. This date is actually a date time so includes a date and a time component i.e. 28/07/2008 13:40:00. When you add, as an example, a year onto this you get 28/07/2009 13:40:00. Now when comparing the due dates to the dates entered in the reminder workspace it is comparing a date without a time (i.e. 28/07/2009 00:00:00) to a date with a time (i.e. 28/07/2009 13:40:00) and as the later is greater it is not including it in the listing.

In order to fix we need to add 23:59:59 to the end date and use this in the comparison.

I have JIRA'd the issue and we will definitely rectify in the 1.4 version.

In the mean time you will need to be aware and set your from and to dates accordingly.

Cheers Tony

Reminder Storage

Hello again,

We have been finding for some time now that the system does not like storing more than 3 reminders - if you try and add a fourth it will add ok but at the expense of deleting one of the pre-existing reminders. It will happily have lots of alerts and reminders together under the same tab but not more than 3 reminders. (ie I have just added a 'follow-up' reminder for a patient that already had a vaccination, proheart and dental reminder in the reminder/alert tab - it added the follow up but deleted the dental reminder)

Has anyone else seen this (maybe its fix is in the completed update?) and is there a way around it.

Also regarding reminders, we have had a few cases where reminders were still generated for a patient that had been de-activated within that reminders cycle - surely the reminder system should ignore de-activated patients?

Cheers,

Nick

Re: Reminder Storage

Hi Nick,

There is no restriction on how many reminders in the system for a particular patient so I think something else is causing this.

The default reminder shows only in progress reminders so if a reminder is completed either manually or when a reminder which has the same group defined in the reminder type is added, the display will not show it any more. One way to check this is the select All in the status selector in the reminder list and you should see all the reminders ever added to the patient.

Now if you see the reminder that disappeared in this list then we need to find out why it is being completed. I would check your reminder types and make sure the group tab holds only group names that make sense. I.e a Follow up reminder that has been assigned to the vaccination group would not be correct and cause any reminder assigned to the same group to be completed.

Tell me what you find ...

Cheers tony
