Reminder Report

I wondered if anyone can help.

I have printed all of the reminders so they have updated but forgot to print the report at the start (silly girl!!).

The only info I have left now are the reminders that their next action is skip.

Is there any way to reproduce the complete listing again??

Re: Reminder Report

I just went to take a look at this, but noticed I'm getting the error: "Failed to generate report: Can only report on single objects" on beta-3. -Paul

Re: Reminder Report

Hi Paul,

I think you may have multiple templates with a type of "Patient reminders".  It is a common mistake to add Reminder letters and give them a type of "Patient reminders" rather than "Patient Letter".  When the reminder workspace goes to look for the report template to use it finds the first available one with the type "Patient Reminders" and if not a suitable jasper report format will complain.

Bernie,  unfortunately dont think any way to reproduce as the reminders have been updated.

Cheers Tony

Thanks Tony - lesson learnt

Re: Reminder Report

Thanks Tony. That fixed it. Just to confirm, the grouped reminder template should also be of type "Patient Letter" correct?

Thanks, Paul

Re: Reminder Report

Hi Paul,

Group reminder template should be of type "Grouped reminders"

Re: Reminder Report

Thanks. So, after that change, the behavior of the "Print" button is quite different. Now it pulls up the reminders report, whereas previously I had used it to view a single reminder (w/ the reminder template itself). What's the intended usage of the "Print" button?

Thanks, Paul

Re: Reminder Report

Hi Paul,

Print button will print the reminder letter defined for the current selected reminder and reminder count as defined in the reminder type for that reminder.  Note it will not print a grouped reminder as the grouping happens only when the Send All button is used.

Report button will print a report as defined by the template with type "patient reminders" passing the current filtered list of reminders in the Reminders workspace.

Cheers Tony

Re: Reminder Report

Hmm... that's the behavior it used to have. I got used to it and assumed it was the intended functionality. However, after changing all the reminder templates to "Patient Letter" and upgrading to Beta-3, the print button displays the "Patient Reminders" report. It's the same report that the "Report" button produces, but with only a single reminder.

I currently have all reminder templates set to "Patient Letter", except the grouped reminder template which is set to "Grouped Reminders" type. The reminder templates were previously (and erroneously?) set to "Patient Reminder". Any ideas?

Thanks, Paul

Re: Reminder Report

Use:

  • "Patient Letter" for templates for individual reminders (e.g. vaccinations)
  • "Grouped Reminders" for the template that groups reminders for a single customer
  • "Patient Reminders" for everything else, i.e.
    • Print in Reporting -> Reminders
    • Report in Reporting -> Reminders where the customer is to be phoned or has no contact details, or the template has "list" set "true"

I haven't tried setting the Patient Letter templates to "Patient Reminders"; it may work by virtue of the fact that the template is linked to the reminder type. I wouldn't recommend relying on this behaviour however.

Re: Reminder Report

Okay, I think I'm beginning to understand. Let's see if this makes sense...

I had all the reminder templates set to "Patient Reminder", which had the effect of allowing me to print them normally as reminders ("Send All"), and being able to print them one-by-one using the "Print" button. It appears that wasn't the intended behavior.

If I would want to print them one-by-one and in batch, then I should configure two templates for each reminder, one for each case -- distinguished by "Patient Reminder" vs. "Patient Letter". Sound right?

I noticed that my "Patient Reminders Report" was also set to "Patient Reminder", which would be the reason that it's trying to use it as the template for the "Print" button. I tried setting that report to "Report" type, but it fails in generation I do that. So, it would appear that the same template (or template type) must be used for the "Print" and "Report" buttons. Is that correct?

Thanks, Paul

Re: Reminder Report

Actually, I think part of the behaviour you are seeing is a bug.

Previously, it appears Print would use the template associated with the reminder, whereas now it using the generic one for type "Patient Reminders". I'll have to go back and investigate some more.

With respect to what reports should have what types, the default installation uses the following templates:

  • "Patient Reminders Report" for type "Patient Reminders" - file name: "patientReminders.jrxml"
  • "Grouped Reminders Report" for type "Grouped Reminders" - file name: "grouped reminders a4.jrxml"

Individual reminder letters use type "Patient Letter", e.g.:

"Reminder Cartrophen First" for type "Patient Letter" - file name: "cartrophen first reminder.odt"

Re: Reminder Report

Thanks Tim,

Okay, I'm setup that way at this point. Thanks for investigating.

Cheers, Paul
