reminders

Good Morning all, I have a problem with my reminders and have put a call in to our implementor but wondering if anyone else has any ideas or suggestions. We print out letters (for more than one reminder & when more than one pet is involved) and postcards for the single pet single reminder. The cards have printed out normally but the grouped reminders have not printed out. They print on the same printer and at the same time as the cards so I know it is not a printer issue. The printer spits out the page as if the message has been sent to the printer but the page is blank.

Any help or suggestions most welcome. Thanks Anna

Have you printed grouped reminders successfully recently, and on the same printer?

If so, the only thing I can think of is that perhaps there is something wrong with the Grouped Reminder template or its configuration.

You can check the template by going to Administration|Templates, and looking for the one with type "Grouped Reminders". There should only be one of these.

If you View it, you can click on the Content to download the .jxrml file which you can then take a look at in iReport.

Thanks for your response - I am still having troubles with the Grouped Reminders. They email fine - I did some testing with mock reminders to my email address, so it cannot be something with the jrmxl file. It is the same printer that I have always used. I did try to adjust the template such that the grouped reminders would be sent to a different printer but they did not print out at all.....

I have taken a screen shot of the Grouped Reminder template to see if anyone can see an entry that is incorrect....

Looks fine. A couple of other things you can try:

  • make sure there are no inactive printers for that template, by unticking Hide Inactive Printers
  • replace the Grouped RemindersA4 with date.jrxml file with the original grouped reminders a4.jrxml included in the installation. You can find this in the reports/ directory.

Thanks for you help - at this stage I have done what Cath suggested and ungrouped all my reminders. I have unticked the inactive printers - but I am not sure about the original grouped reminder jrxml report - Cath made up one that included the date as the one given at installation did not include the date on the printed reminder. We have been using the dated one for over 12 mths without a problem and given that the grouped reminders are working for the emails not being printed we all feel that it is not a merging problem. Wil give it a go though! thanks Anna

Well I have tried all that I can in terms of using the original jrmxl without the date - still creates the email grouped reminder and prints out a page but is blank. Cannot seem to unclick the hide inactive printers as each time I click ok when I go back into the template it is clicked again. I also tried to make a new Group reminder template but had the same result....

Anna - this might sound like a really stupid question: do other reports print correctly?

I have a situation in that all the standard reports mostly print blank.  This is due to the use of sanserif fonts in the standard reports.  In my Windows 2003 server system (for reasons I do not understand) sanserif maps to a font (not arial) that is slightly bigger and the print no longer fits in the space allowed and thus 'prints' as blank.

My fix was to change the font to arial for all fields in the report.
