Reprinting reminder run

Hi all

We had a "printer issue" when running our reminders so all reminders were generated but most came thru the printer blank.

There is no way in Open to re-run a reminder run. 

Is it just me or do others feel that it would be very useful to be able generate the same run again?

Hi Di,

I couldn't agree more. What we do is wait until the whole run is complete while the "Reprint" button is still on the screen. That way you have the option while it's going on. Of course that doesn't prevent someone from sneaking up behind me and closing out the web browser when I'm not looking (which has actually happened)... or in the case there's a printer malfunction, it's hard to keep that screen active until the printer problem is resloved.

A JIRA issue was raised some time ago to improve this.

As a parallel question, how much would a "Send As CSV" button cost? ie to take the patients listed on the "Reporting - Reminders" screen and send them reminders by creating a CSV file with patient and customer details which then would be:

a. backup-able report file of reminders sent;

b. a versatile data set for customising and creating, say, 3-across mailing labels that can then be stuck onto postcards.

I've been wrestling with iReport while off-work, but I can't create what I want, so I'd be happy to pay for that enhancement and then donate it to all oV users.

When would you use the "Send as CSV" button?

Is this something you would press before doing a "Send All", or would you use it as an alternative means for generating reminders?

I'd use it as an alternative means of generating reminders (to be able to print 3-across sticky labels which would then be applied to postcards).

Our current reminder system (Paradox, a DOS DBMS program working quite happily under W7-32bit) generates a .csv file which MWord prints to 3-across labels on A4 sheet; these are then stuck onto postcards.

We address the postcard to the pet.name c/- the ownername and owneraddress.

I wonder if it would be possible to pull such a client list (the reminder list) as a report and use the xisting "Send as CSV" functionality?

Or is this not possible using a query?

If not... maybe we should store a transaction report of sorts as to who was included in a print job?
