Should unify 'mail' and 'email'

The system uses both 'mail' and 'email' when referring to email.
It would be better if it was always 'email'. Note that in cases where the M of mail is the shortcut, this should be preserved - so for example on line 394 of the messages.properties file we should have:
button.mail E&mail and not &Email

I disagree. I think email should only be used where there is ambiguity between postal mail and email.
Looking at Outlook, gmail and Thunderbird, they all use Mail.

There no ambiguity in those Clients becuase they are EMAIL clients.
In OPENVPMS we are potential dealing with a user base that is Not computer savvy and they are aware that openvpms can print letters to MAIL. (to be honest it would not suprise me if some of my users think the MAIL button in the print dialog actually prints a letter puts it in an envelope and mails it). I had a user type a letter the other day...space barring her way to a new line each time..... Personally I think MAIL is generic EMAIL is specific. we really need a new time like sMAIL (snail MAIL) or something to define postage. But that is not a discussion to be had here.

And like OpenVPMS, those email clients don't do postal mail.
I think once you've clicked Mail and seen a dialog pop up that displays email addresses, it should be fairly clear what the intention is.

As I said in the user forum "questions from new users do indicate areas where things can be improved". This post was generated a result of my son bitching on day 1 of using the system - and me not being able to explain why email was used in some places and mail in others.
We run with a modified messages.properties (to replace Find by Find/Refresh and a couple of others) so it is no problem to me to adjust all mail to email.
However, I did think that the same change to the shipped product was worth suggesting.
