Supplier (Veterinarian) Spreadsheet Import

Hi,

This might be a bit cheeky to ask, as not sure how much benefit it would be to anyone else. We are constantly trying to keep our Supplier (Veterinarian & Veterinary Clinic) details up to date, but it is quite time consuming.

Would there be any way to create an Export of our Suppliers - Veterinary Clinics- with Veterinarians, email addresses, postal address, phone numbers etc. into a CSV. Then could I make all necessary changes and Import it back in?

Greta - in the software world, anything is possible - it just costs money and time. The export side is relatively easy - just build a report. The import side is a lot more complex because of the need to support both contact updates and contact additions.

It seems to me that the data entry load is about the same for both 'update via the Supplier|Information|Edit screen' and 'edit and import spreadsheet'.

I suspect that a supplier listing facility is the first step - there is none in the standard reports but I put a set in the resource library about a year ago - see http://www.openvpms.org/customisation/suppliervetvet-practice-listing

Why don't you try installing these and then scribbling any corrections on them and then doing the updates via the screen.
