Switching my other computer to become server

Hi
Please bear in mind my computer skills are not so good. I'm a housecall practice and had open vpms installed on 2 laptops. The one used as the server has just died.
I was repeatedly getting an "asynchronous polling message" error on the server computer but ignored it as the system was still functioning fine.
Open VPMS was initially working on the non-server computer but then ceased to work after a month or so and I didn't bother to remedy this as I was getting by with the one computer operating.
I now need to get openVPMS operating on the non-server computer - tried a few things but can't seem to get it going.
I'm sure the question has probably been asked before - can someone point me in the right direction to sort this?
Cheers
Steve
Re: Switching my other computer to become server
The "Invalid response from server to asynchronous polling connection" typically means that either the session has timed out through inactivity, or there has been a problem with the network.
There is some documentation on migrating OpenVPMS from one machine to another here. Its for OpenVPMS 1.8, but much of it is relevant for earlier releases.
Re: Switching my other computer to become server
I've already had openvpms working previously on the non- server computer but now want to change it to the server computer - I thought would be as simple as changing the port in the firewall from 8080 to 3306 - as this is what is differenciates server and non- server computer????

It's all good - I may not know what I'm talking about but I got there in the end.
