Tasks - Links

Hi,

We put tasks into a list for vets to call clients back about certain medications, investigations, etc.

It would be really useful if in the task we could select a link to a certain aspect of the history (e.g. an investigation or document) so the vet could click that link and know for example which test they were meant to be discussing.

Is this possible using the current system and some archetype tweaks? Would it need a project.

Bonus question. The vets often like to have the client phone number listed in the callback task. Can we tweak task type archetypes so we can select a callback phone number from the client's contacts? This is then displayed in the task?

Thanks,

Adrian

Re: Tasks - Links

This is currently not supported.

The easiest way to support it would be to add a New Task button to Patients - Medical Records - Summary, and the Edit Visit - Summary windows. This would create a new Task for the current patient, linked to the selected medical record.

When viewing the Task, the record would be displayed at the bottom.

Alternatively, the whole patient history could be displayed in the Task with the relevant record selected. This would allow the record to be selected whilst editing the Task.

Re: Tasks - Links

Hi,

ok - however would the task be linked to that particular aspect of the history? I.e. a particular note or investigation or document?

Re: Tasks - Links

You wouldn't see the task in the patient history if that is what you mean.

It would only appear in the relevant work list.

Re: Tasks - Links

Hmmmm.... I think I am not making myself clear....

On the Edit Task Screen we would like the ability to link to an aspect of the clinical record.

E.g.

We would like to be able to click on a link in the Edit Task screen (or even from the worklist) and be taken to that particular part of the patient history (be it a note, investigation, document, etc).

We don't need to see the task in the patient history... This is a way to leave notes/messages for people so they don't have to trawl through history to find what they need. It is displayed there for them or just a single click away....

Re: Tasks - Links

Adrian - you might want to consider our solution to the same problem (ie how to put some notes somewhere against what is happening to the patient).

Our solution was to add a 'Rounds' text field to the visit record. This is especially useful when the patient is in hsopital for a number of days and there are a significant number of visit subrecords. It looks like:

Incidently, to find this example, I went to the current Hospital task list and clicked on one of the patients - this took me to the Patient's medical record and there at the top was the visit with its Rounds text. [BT was the admitting vet, and CE the one who last administered medication and updated the Rounds entry on 24May in the morning (we use 'short names' for vets).]

Re: Tasks - Links

Hi Tim,

Yes we are planning to implement the rounds notes. However this is more to address the issue of:

- New results come in for a patient. Admin leaves a message in the task list for vet X to call an owner with update about that result.

In patients with lots of results and documents it can be hard to find what new result a vet should look at - just trying to make the link between the task and where the vet needs to look shorter.
