Tax calculation - customer exemption & scheme/category ?

For the CSH project I am documenting both the way the system works (see http://www.openvpms.org/documentation/csh/1.7/concepts/taxes) and the Admin/Lookups/Tax Type screen (see http://www.openvpms.org/documentation/csh/1.7/admin/lookup/taxType)

For the concepts part, I lifted text from Tony's writeup in http://www.openvpms.org/forum/gst-calculations-vs-us-sales-tax-calculati... - the bit that I have trouble with is the statment "When a product is charged the application checks the customer record for any tax exclusions and removes these taxes from any taxes it finds by looking at the product/product Type or if none the practice location/practice." Does this mean that the taxes set for the customer are the 'exempt from' list rather than the 'applies' list ?

For the Lookup/Tax Type screen, Tony's writeup does not mention Tax Scheme and Tax Category. Does this mean that these fields are not used by the system?

The tax rates associated with a customer are exclusions. Any tax rate associated with a customer is removed from the tax rates associated with the product and/or practice to determine the final tax rate.

Tax Scheme and Tax Category are used to map ESCI taxes to their OpenVPMS equivalents.

Tim - thanks for this and apologies for my tardy reply.

Is it possible to change the archetype party.customerperson so that the 'taxes' node has the Display Name 'Tax Exemptions' rather than the current 'Taxes'.

Badly put - I know its possible - I just adjusted the 1.7 Alpha demo system this way - can we get this is as a 1.7 change. This would save me having to explain in the CSH pages that the taxes listed in the Taxes tab for customers are not the taxes that apply, but rather those that don't.
