Transfer of Pet Ownership - tracing ownership

I occassionally have a need to transfer a pet from one owner to another.  The way this seems to currently be accomplished is to Edit the patient, add the new owner under the owner tab, then delete the old owner.  

The ability to set an end date doesnt appear to apply?  Or when you try you get a validation error?

Anyone else experience this or have a solution, I would love to be able to trace a pets ownership rather than requiring my memory.

Hi Ben,

If you simply edit a patient and add a new owner the previous owner will have its end date set and the new owner added.  By unticking the "Hide Inactive Customers" check box you will see previous ownerships.

This works for me:

1. Edit patient.

2. On Customers tab, add a new 'Patient Owner' relationship

3. Select the new customer

4. Click OK

The existing owner relationship will have its 'To Date' set to today, and will not appear in the Customers table unless you have unchecked 'Hide inactive customers'.

Yeah worked for me...its the date thing again...exclusive v inclusive. 

I was manually setting the end date to be the day before...hence the pet was not owned for 1 day
