Unable to add new products

We are no longer able to add new products. The product appears to be on the computer but when we attempt to bill the product it comes up with "Failed to validate products of stock location. Duplicate active product location relationship."

I see this problem occurred in 2009 but I cannot see how that discussion applies to our situation. I added an imaginary item through products called ZOT and when billed it came up with the same message.

Interestingly the same problem is occurring in the demo version on our system.

Re: Unable to add new products

Edit the product in Products|Information and click the Stock Locations tab.

There should be only one record for a given Stock Location for the current date.

If there are multiple records for a Stock Location, and they are active at the current date, then you will need to delete the duplicates. I can't think of a situation that would trigger this behaviour, unless your data was migrated from another system.

Re: Unable to add new products

We only have 1 stock location on the system. New items can be added without using the stock location tab and will still not bill out. When attempting to edit these stock items  in Product:information Stock locations any change to the stock location tab brings up the same error message when we hit apply. We cannot add a stock location to these items.

What do you see if you select Stock Locations, and untick "Hide Inactive Stock Locations" ?

Re: Unable to add new products

No change. There do not seem to be any inactive stock locations.

Re: Unable to add new products

Take a look at the Stock Location in Adminstration|Organisation, and see if the product is listed twice.

If that doesn't work, I think you'll need to get your implementer to take a look at it.

Re: Unable to add new products

Hi Everyone,

Has been fixed.  Was due to backend product framework changes (changing product type through database early in imp process) causing adding of multiple stock locations on some products which then restricted any further products haveing a stock location added as thsi updates the stock location and validates all stock location relationships.  Had to be fixed using a databse script to locat eduplicates and delte them.

Cheers Tony
