Hi Tony! How are you? :D Just wanted to check if there are currently plans for additional clients such as a local client? Cheers! Eric

Re: Native clients

Hi Eric For the ignorant out here would you be able to explain what a local client is? thankyou, Peter

Re: Native clients

Hi Peter, sorry about my vagueness earlier :) The demonstration on the OpenVPMS website is a web-based application running within a or multiple browser windows. I was just wondering whether there are any plans for a client version that handles the GUI side of things / integration with other applications locally on the workstation. I guess the second question is whether there would be any call for this..? Thanks! :)

Re: Native clients

Thanks for the explanation Eric, I think we need Tony to answer that one. Peter

Re: Native clients

Hi Eric, Although we don't currently have any concrete plans for developing a alternative gui interface for the application we do have plans to provide a common application programming interface that can be utilised from other languages and remote clients. In essence this means other developers will be free to utilise our published services and business rules and write alternative user interfaces for part or all of the application. Currently developers can do this in Java (using swing, RMI etc). Once the API has stabilised we intend to provide alternative service call options such as Soap and if necessary and funded, possibly a .Net style interface. Any ideas on what would be most useful are welcome. Regards Tony
