Appointment reason changing when you change appt type

Hi there,
We are using version 2.3.0.1 and have found since using this version when we edit and change an appt type e.g from standard to short the visit/appt reason changes back to our default reason.
It is ok if you have taken note of the reason but frustrating if you haven't.
I have tried to change the type with no reason set as default and it changes the reason to blank (null)
Wondering if others have experienced this and how they are working around it?
