Calculating Doses

Hi,

When calculating doses, calculated quantities override those specified by templates.

What is the rationale for this?

Is it possible for templates to have a toggle that turns auto-calculation on or off for items in the template.

This could be either global (all items in the template) or per item (like the zero price and print toggles).

There are some templates where we would really like to be able to over-ride auto-calculation for items, while retaining auto-calculation when charging the item on its own or in other templates.

Thank you,

Adrian

Re: Calculating Doses

The rationale is that the quantity calculated from a dose will be more accurate compared with that hard-coded in a template.

Can you provide an example where a dose should be overriden?

Re: Calculating Doses

Hi,

Sure thing. The example we have is that we have templates for specific drug combinations. Continuous rate infusions in particular.

So lets say we are dealing with methadone.

- If we charge just as as injection we want the dose auto calculated.

- If we charge a CRI we want to charge a template that has the drug and a CRI fee. We also have 4 different possible templates. One has methadone for making up in a 20mL syringe (we want 2mL for this template), one has methadone for making up in a 60mL syringe (we want 6mL methadone for this template), we have one for an MLK combination (we might want 1.2mL for this template)... etc

So it would be useful for the templates to be able to turn off auto calculations... as it is, the templates basically don't work in their current form because no matter what we charge it auto calculates to the normal injectable dose rate. Which is REALLY useful for the one off injections, but not at all useful for our templates...
