Cash Drawer

Hi,
I'm hoping for some advice on how to set up our cash drawer.
Do I need to purchase something? I have a Cash Drawer Trigger from years ago (photo attached) is this what I need or do I need to purchase a new printer?
Re: Cash Drawer
In 1.8, OpenVPMS supports cash drawers that can be opened by sending a set of control codes to the receipt printer. Take at look at the Opening the Cash Drawer section of the Till documentation.
You'll need to determine if your cash drawer supports this. At the bottom of that section there is a link to a site that lists codes for common models.
Re: Cash Drawer
HI Greta,
If the software for that device allows it to be setup as a printer AND then that "fake" printer can be SHARED to the openvpms server it should work....
So you plug that device into the PC nearest the cash draw - then plug the cashdraws lead usually a RJ45 com plug into the device install the software that came with it onto the machine - hopefully it will create a "Fake" printer that can be shared to the server and set as the till Receipt printer.

Re: Cash Drawer
Hi Ben,
I have installed the trigger as directed.
When I go to the printer in Control Panal and print a test page, the cash drawer opens. So I know that part works.
I then go to OpenVPMS "Till" and put in the Printer as directed.
My problem is I cannot find the command prompt anywhere for this trigger. Does anyone have a tip on how to find the drawer command (my googling hasn't come up with anything).
The trigger is model M317.
I've tried putting in the command <1B>p<00> (which is what is in the printer preferences), but that is obviously not right as it needs to be a 27,... number.
Any help would be appreciated.
Greta
Re: Cash Drawer
1B is 27 in hexadecimal, so try 27,0 for the Drawer Command.

Re: Cash Drawer
Hi,
We are still trying to get our Cash Drawer Trigger to work.
I have purchased a new Ethernet Cash Drawer Trigger Model 319.
I've changed it's IP address and can open it up when I'm on a terminal (or server) by typing in it's IP address into the taskbar. I've followed the instructions that came with it and that seems to be fine.
Can anyone talk me through how to install it please so that it works on OpenVPMS?
*Devices and Printers - Add a printer?
*Do I add a local printer or a Network Printer?
*Add a printer using TCP/IP?
Are there any other obvious steps I need to take? I've searched the forum, but can't find the info I need.
Sorry and thanks.
Re: Cash Drawer
The only documentation I can find for that trigger is here: https://umd.com.au/itd/products/m319.html
I can't see any mention of printer drivers on that page. Assuming it can be registered as a printer, it would be as a network printer. You would then use this in the Printer Name field of the Till configuration.
if it doesn't support being registered as a printer, it can't be used with OpenVPMS.
