Check In notification popup for all workstations
Submitted by sorrentovet on Thu, 21/04/2022 - 20:26
Hey everyone,
I would love an optional setting where a pop-up window appears on all workstations as soon as a patient is checked in.
The reason for this is that our receptionist currently must walk from reception to notify the vet that their patient has arrived. We've had it a few times where the client was waiting for 20 minutes, and each receptionist thought the other one notified the vet; this all while the vet was typing histories at the back so was able to immediately do the consult.
I wonder if this is possible at all with OpenVPMS or if not, what is the chance of getting a feature like this added?
Regards

If using the Workflow > Scheduling > Check-In process, when a customer arrives at the practice this will be shown at any workstation as per the below screenshot.

Our clinicians use the Work List as standard, so with Highlight of Event type, each new Checked In appears in this list as waiting, appropriately coloured.

Re: Check In notification popup for all workstations
The issue that I believe SorrentoVet alludes to is that using a notification bubble triggers the browser notification symbol that causes a "ding" and a pop up window.
Ideally this would occur on workstations that are NOT already contextually in a "Consult" workflow.
The screen update as indicated is not immediately obvious.

Hi everyone,
That is exactly correct Ben. The idea is to get a notification prompt even if you are doing something completely away from the worklists or schedules.
