date of visit on record

If entering details of consult the day after I find it difficult to alter the "date of visit" . I can enter a date but it falls under the overall day of entry. I then have to go back and alter the date in the overall day. There must be a better way.
Re: date of visit on record
Post-dating records isn't easy and given the current move to locking records it isnt likely to get any easier either...That being said ...if you are using a normal workflow for setting visits it automatically creates a visit entry. If you later need to go back and and a new note ...when click the visit and the add the note and it will automatically appear under that visit...you will need to adjust the date of the note. Although argueably the date of the note is accurate as it is the date you entered the information ....where as the visit represents the day the animal visited.

Thanks Ben,
I think this means I should always use workflow.
Does the goal of closing off records relate to medico legal factor - preventing vets from going back and retrospectively altering a record?

Re: date of visit on record
My understanding is that it was introduced as a request of some large practices as well as insurers. Primarily to ensure record consistency.
The time frame for postdated changes is flexible and can be turned off entirely. Just be aware of VSB requirements
