Downloaded reports

Thank you all who produce reports for downloading - they certainly add functionality.
Can someone please tell me and other uninitiated how you alter the parameters in those reports that have a % field present to further narrow down the report details.

Thanks,

Nick

Re: Downloaded reports

Hi Nick,

The % in report parameters is a "wild card". It represents any character or number of characters, just like * is word docs. So for example; If I want to search "clavulox"

I could search using this terms: Example 1: "clav%" Most of the reports will add a % on after what you type automatically so you could just type "clav" If you had "Clavulox 250" and "Clavulox 500" it would find both.

Example 2: You cant want to find all meds with "trimethoprim" in their name Type "%trimeth" and it will find all of them Type "%tri%sulf%" to find "trimethroprim-sulfur"

So you can remove the % or append it to the end of your search term or put it in the center of a word. If there are specific fields in specific reports you are having trouble with, post a comment on the report itself.

Cheers, Matt C

Reports search

Thanks Matt,

How then do you apply it to Clients to reduce search size to say A-e, F-L etc?

Cheers,

Searching in reports

Hmm good question Nick..

This type of request ie. All animals with names starting with letters between [A-E] is generally done through "regular expressions" and I'm pretty certain reports wont handle those type of expressions as "parameters" at the moment.

The terms we provide through the parameter prompts tend to be just inserted into the query that gets the data out. Most web applications will clean off things that look like functions or forbidden characters to prevent people maliciously damaging the database. I dont know if OpenVPMS does this prior to passing the parameters on to Jasper reports.

Gee, I'm stumped. Maybe I'll post this one to the developers forum Nick.

Sorry.
