Open Office Writer

As a user not familiar with the vagaries of Open office can someone please tell me why some Forms/Letters in OpenVpMS open perfectly and some refuse to download/open repeatedly. They will either freeze the user or keep requesting recoverys and sending reports. This can happen intermittently in one consult room session in the same user while other documents will open and be edited/printed normally with no apparent consistent link to any particular document

Re: Open Office Writer

Hey Nick,

We have hit some similar issues (requesting recoverys and sending reports) but it only happens in the administrator/console log in. Haven't had it happen in a terminal before. We had some isssues with printing, but they settled down. We do get some interesting dialogs pop up when we save open office documents on terminals - but they save none the less. In your case sounds like an OpenOffice install/instancing issue. ie. server issue and best dealt with by your implementor/integrator. Server fiddles are not for the faint of heart.

Open Office Writer

Hi Nick and Matt,

Are you sure that it is not an issue with your browser. We had a few issues with documents not opening well after hitting the link in the browser. What fixed it for us (Mozilla) was to go to go to options --> content-->manage file types --> and then select Open with open office 2.1 (default application) for odt files. It seems that the plug-ins for the open office documents are not very stable.

I may be off the mark but it is an easy thing to trial before getting into the server.

Open office freezing

Hey Nick,

Did you get this sorted?

Hey Sam, nah this issue was to do with the openoffice on our fileserver opening the document either in openvpms or just in the file system on the terminals.

We still get a funny error every time wwe save an openoffice doc on the terminals but it still works. I should sort it out buts its down the priority list atm :)
