Generate report for unused estimates
My nurses came up with this idea today...
Would it be possible to generate a report of the contact details, estimate name and pet details for every person given an estimate (and not had that estimate invoiced out) for a certain time period?
For example, we hand out a lot of estimates for dental work. Approx 50% of people book at the time of recieving the estimate, the rest disappear into never-never land and then the next year we see the dog the teeth are getting worse...
If we had a list of each person we gave an estimate to, we could call them all at the end of the month (or a few weeks after or whatever) and check in that they had no further questions about the estimate etc.
Of course this would require everyone who generates invoices to then use them for charging purposes otherwise they would pop up on the list again.
Thoughts? Even if it would be more tricky to implement in a larger practice it would work well in small practices like mine.
If this is possible I am certain we could get more procedures booked in, and would be happy to fund this.
Thanks and let me know your thoughts!

Re: Generate report for unused estimates
KT - what you want is (I suspect) a clone of the 'Export Customer Addresses for Sales' and 'Export Customer Email Addresses for Sales' reports that are part of the 1.8 package.
They look for sales. For your use they need to be adjusted to look for estimates - presumably with status 'Completed' (ie 'finalised') - and to ignore 'in progress' and 'invoiced' estimates.
What version of OpenVPMS are you running - 1.7 or 1.8?
Do you need both the email and postal address versions?

Re: Generate report for unused estimates
KT - thinking more about this, I suspect that what we need is a Estimates Report with the following facilities:
Selection Parameters:
Output data:
Line item header data:
Line item detail data: (only displayed if Show Details checked)
Summary data:
Note that contact information is not displayed - the idea is that you look at the printout and then call up their customer details and if necessary call or email or sms them.
Note also that there is probably a case for adding a Estimates sub-report to the Practice Summary report that is new in 1.8 which gives the count and totals of non-expired estimates having status Completed and Invoiced grouped by clinician.
Let me know if the suggested Estimates report will suit your needs.

Re: Generate report for unused estimates
KT - the report - and its subreport - have been added to the Resources Library - see http://www.openvpms.org/customisation/estimates-report. These will run under 1.7 (or 1.8)
Can you give it a whirl and provide any comments/suggestions/complaints.
If you are happy, make a suitable donation to either the project http://www.openvpms.org/project/invoice-edit-locks or a general donation.
Tim A - I think that this should be added to the standard suite - because we have no Estimates page in the Workflow workspace - ie no equivalent of 'Workflow|Investigations'.

Re: Generate report for unused estimates
What you need is a management tool that tracks recommendations because although we all know that clients are slow to take up our recommendations overall, it won't just be your dentistry that is the problem. And, you are relying on your Vets to actually create an estimate when they tell a client that the dog/cat ' needs a dental'.
We have a manual spreadsheet that the nurses go back over 4 weeks ago's consults and look at a whole lot of parameters like was the history complete, what was the dental score and what recommendations were made.
That way you can measure things, rather than using best guess. Also identify who gets best uptake!
